To speak of many things…….most importantly – I’M PREGNANT!!! (and it’s sticking!!)
This is going to be a long post – for those of you who are annoyed – get over it. I’m excited and am FINALLY at the point where I’m comfortable shouting it from the rooftops (or the closest thing – social media!)
So – it’s been a crazy couple of months around here, apparently my body decided 6 weeks after my last miscarriage that it was a good time to conceive a baby -and actually hold onto it. It was so completely random, unexpected and shocking that it took a few days for the idea to really sink in, and even longer for us to be hopeful that this would be a viable pregnancy. It has not been without challenges – but nothing we can’t handle.
It’s been 14 weeks and things are going really well. It’s that super awkward phase of pregnancy where you’re too fat for any regular clothes (hello leggings and over sized shirts!) and not really showing a “pregnant belly”. It’s not glamorous at all, however the constant nausea has subsided and for that I’m forever thankful.
One thing that I did today was the first blood test for Downs Syndrome. This is a controversial subject so for those of you against the test – divert your eyes for the next few lines. We decided to go ahead with the testing, not because we would abort if the tests came back positive for Downs Syndrome, but because I’m the kind of person who needs to be prepared for EVERYTHING. If our child happens to have a specialty I’m going to be prepared. I will read everything there is, reach out to every specialist and therapist that I could to ensure that we are equipped to handle the challenge. I completely respect everyone’s personal choice and decision, and this was ours.
Lastly, I’d like to thank everyone out there who has supported my husband and I through our journey to have a child. It’s been a 2.5 year process, but finally it looks like we’ve turned a corner and are headed towards becoming a family of 3!
Stay tuned for more updates!!!
